Joshua Mosshart EB-5 Immigrant Investor Funding
Immigrants (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) who make an investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States and who plan to create or preserve ten permanent full time jobs for qualified United States workers, are eligible to apply for a green card (permanent residence).
Up to 10,000 visas may be authorized each fiscal year for eligible entrepreneurs.
You must invest $1,000,000, or at least $500,000 in a targeted employment area (high unemployment or rural area). In return, Department of Homeland Security may grant conditional permanent residence to the individual.
EB-5 was created by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors to fast track them attaining a green card. All EB-5 investors must invest in a new commercial business and create a minimum of 10 new full time US jobs within two years.
Businesses that qualify are any for-profit business including, but not limited to:
Corporations
Partnerships
Holding Company's
Joint Ventures
Sole Proprietorship's
The minimum investment for foreigners in qualified investments in the United States is $1 million to receive their green card. The minimum investment foreigners are required to invest in a rural high-unemployment area in the United States is $500K.
This is a great way to access capital with capital costs as low 1-3%.
Investments in your project could range between $500k-$10M.
We would recommend structuring a General Partnership with multiple limited partners to meet your funding requirements. We suggest consulting our immigration attorney that has expertise in this area.
Cleantech Grants and partners created a EB-5 Direct Partnership that reduces the time and the costs by half associated with the traditional EB-5 program. This is a great alternative financing solution with no recourse.

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services is the largest grant making agency in the US.
HHS 2015 discretionary resources for the Department of Health and Human Services is $77.1 billion.
The mission of HHS is to support innovation to help drive down long-term health care costs, improve health care for millions of Americans, address public health priorities, assist vulnerable populations and I feel most importantly support advancing medical research.
HHS is actually injecting $30.2 billion dollars in 2015 investing in innovative medical research and technologies. Additionally investing in high-quality health services for young children
Investments in public health improvements through biomedical research and technology to improve the health of Americans and to promote economic growth through innovation.
The budget increases funding for innovative, high-risk high reward research to help spur development of new therapeutics to treat diseases and disorders that affect millions of Americans, such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
The Budget also invests $30M for the Advanced Molecular Detection Initiative to identify the sources of emerging infectious diseases faster, determine whether microbes are resistant to antibodies, and study how microbes are moving through our population.
The Budget includes $462 million to enhance the advanced development of next generation medical countermeasures against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.
Further the budget provides discretionary and mandatory resources for States to support higher-quality child-care and dedicates $200M.
The Budget provides for $2.8 billion for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program to help families with residential heating and cooling costs, including $200m in contingency funds.
There is billions in Federal Subsidies and Grants through varies agencies for small businesses the key is understanding how to make those funding requests, to whom and have the right timing and mission.
