Joshua Mosshart Grants-Health and Human Services HHS Budgets $77.1 Billion

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services is the largest grant making agency in the US.

HHS 2015 discretionary resources for the Department of Health and Human Services is $77.1 billion.

The mission of HHS is to support innovation to help drive down long-term health care costs, improve health care for millions of Americans, address public health priorities, assist vulnerable populations and I feel most importantly support advancing medical research.

HHS is actually injecting $30.2 billion dollars in 2015 investing in innovative medical research and technologies. Additionally investing in high-quality health services for young children

Investments in public health improvements through biomedical research and technology to improve the health of Americans and to promote economic growth through innovation.

The budget increases funding for innovative, high-risk high reward research to help spur development of new therapeutics to treat diseases and disorders that affect millions of Americans, such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

The Budget also invests $30M for the Advanced Molecular Detection Initiative to identify the sources of emerging infectious diseases faster, determine whether microbes are resistant to antibodies, and study how microbes are moving through our population.

The Budget includes $462 million to enhance the advanced development of next generation medical countermeasures against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.

Further the budget provides discretionary and mandatory resources for States to support higher-quality child-care and dedicates $200M.

The Budget provides for $2.8 billion for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program to help families with residential heating and cooling costs, including $200m in contingency funds.

There is billions in Federal Subsidies and Grants through varies agencies for small businesses the key is understanding how to make those funding requests, to whom and have the right timing and mission.
